A handgun evaluation offers you the opportunity to try different handguns and calibers. Attending this class will help you narrow down the options, if not choose a suitable handgun for you. This is not an Introduction to Handguns class. Firearm safety and basic firearm knowledge are required for this course. If you have not attended Introduction to Handguns, or the permit class you need special permission to attend this class. During the class we will review the fundamentals, then you will test fire a variety of handguns (revolvers and semi-automatics in various calibers). An instructor will be with you to insure you practice safety, focus on the fundamentals of shooting, give you pointers to help you build good habits, and help you in your handgun selection process. You will rate and comment on each handgun, so that you will leave with the information needed in order to make the most informed decision about which handgun is right for you. Handguns and ammunition are provided.

This course will help improve your marksmanship. After a brief safety portion, the rest of this class is spent on the range. If you need to become a better shot, this is a great class for you. This is NOT an “Introduction to Handguns” type class. You must know how to load, unload, and shoot your firearm. You must also be comfortable with your firearm or firearms in general. You may have just taken the Introduction to Handguns class at Range USA University and feel that you need more practice with an instructor before you proceed to the Tennessee Permit Class. You may have just taken the Tennessee Permit Class and realize that you need a lot more practice with your marksmanship. Or, you may have just purchased a new handgun and want to become more familiar with it and learn how to shoot it better. There are many reasons to take this class. This class will work on stance, sight picture, grip, breathing, trigger control, shot placement and grouping. You will be a better pistol marksman after taking this class and your small groupings will prove it! |

This is a great opportunity for a beginner to ask questions, get answers, and learn in a non-threatening environment. This will be a very FUN class. Are you up-to-date on the legal aspects of carrying a handgun in Tennessee? Do you know the latest laws for using a handgun in self-defense? This class will update you on the Tennessee laws pertaining to carrying a firearm. You will learn about the latest changes in the laws, review the legal responsibilities of carrying a handgun in TN, and review the prohibited locations. You can also have all your TN legal questions regarding the laws answered! In addition, you will receive the latest handouts on the TN laws for self-defense. This is a great class for anyone who has their permit and did not stay updated on the TN laws – from someone who has had it many years, to someone who has had it only a year. This class also applies to those who have an out- of-state permit or to someone who is thinking about applying for their permit, and would first like to understand the laws. |

Civilians: You may carry chemical spray and/or a Taser though training will better prepare you should you have to use it. In order to carry an impact weapon (baton) you must be certified.
Security Guards: The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance states that with proper certification, an unarmed or armed security officer/guard may carry other types of weapons. Prior to carrying a baton, chemical spray, and/or stun gun a security guard must complete a minimum of four hours of training administered by a trainer who has been certified by the Commissioner in the proper use of that weapon and the liabilities associated with it.
Certifications:
Chemical Spray 4 hours $40
To be certified with this weapon each security guard will be sprayed with OC spray (optional for civilians)
Bring an old shirt and an old towel
Impact Weapon 4 hours $40
Wear comfortable shoes and clothes (long pants)

How will you defend yourself in locations where you cannot legally carry a firearm? You always have your body and you can use it as a weapon, but like any weapon you need quality training to use it effectively. P.A.C.T. is the first level of Personal Assault Combat Training, which will teach you simple, effective, and easy to remember techniques you can use to disengage and get away from your attacker. In this class you will use the techniques taught to defend yourself against the instructor by using verbal challenges and strikes in an attempt to escape. We will also address how you can defend yourself against multiple attackers. This course will help you gain the proper survival mindset and teach you techniques to help you defend yourself by using your body as a weapon! It is also a great course for those that don’t want to carry a firearm or are not old enough, but still want to defend themselves. A parent or legal guardian must accompany anyone under the age of 18. |

Take your P.A.C.T. training to the next level! In this class, you will review the simple and effective techniques you learned in P.A.C.T. I. You will begin by practicing punches, strikes, kicks, wrist breaks, and more. Then you will build on the basics by putting those techniques into sequences giving you more skills needed to defend yourself in a confrontation. We will also address ground fighting in case you are ever forced to the ground. You will learn to use speed and momentum to regain control and use your body as a weapon as you attempt to escape. A partner is not required for this class; however, you may choose to bring someone with whom you feel comfortable practicing the ground fighting techniques. Those without a partner can practice with another student or the instructor. You will also learn how to address someone who has a knife or gun. Overall, this class offers you more practice time for all the techniques taught in both P.A.C.T. and P.A.C.T. II!

A personal handgun consultation will help you determine the right handgun for you. This experience begins with you completing a pre-questionnaire. This will help us understand how you plan to use a handgun (home protection, self-defense, hobby, etc.), and will provide other information that will better help us with your consultation. Next, you will schedule your consultation, and during this time a Range USA instructor will help you select or narrow down your choices for a handgun. During your scheduled consultation you will test fire a range of handguns including revolvers and/or semi-automatics in various calibers if you are not sure the highest caliber you can effectively control. Ammunition is provided for no extra cost. An additional hour is available for only $40 if needed. Please note that this is not a private lesson, though you may gain helpful tips on improving your fundamentals such as your stance, grip, sight alignment, and so on as you test fire various handguns. This is personal attention as its best...one-on-one time to help you chose the handgun that best suits you and your purpose for it! |
