To Agencies Registering Applicants for Fingerprinting
We are inviting you to send your applicants to Range USA, Inc. for fingerprinting. Range USA, Inc. is designated as a Cogent Systems Fingerprint location for Tennessee Applicant Processing Service (TAPS).
These are the new simplified directions on how to get registered for fingerprints!
Step 1 – Go to www.tbibackgrounds.com.
Step 2 – Click on “Tennessee Applicant Processing System (TAPS) – Schedule Applicants”.
Step 3 – Enter the ORI # and the Password that is unique to your agency or business.
Step 4 – Click on “Schedule Applicant”.
Step 5 - Click on "Register Online".
Step 6 – Fill out all the required fields.
Step 7 – When finished with Step 6, click “Next”.
Step 8 - Check all information for accuracy. If something is wrong click "Cancel". If everything is correct click "Submit".
Step 9 – Wait 24 hours after doing Step 8 and then come to Range USA to get fingerprinted!
After doing Step 7, you can repeat Steps 1-3 to see if you are “in the system”. But, instead of clicking on “Schedule Applicant” (in Step 4), you will click on “Display Scheduled Applicants”. This is not a necessary step, but you might want to check before you make the trip.
If you, the agency or employer, is paying for the applicant's fingerprints, there is a way to do that on line as well. Instead of clicking on "Schedule Applicant" in Step 4, you will choose "TAPS Pre-payment Services" and procede to pay for their fingerprints. The confirmation number you receive is for your payment only - NOT for registration. Be sure that you do both - register your employee/applicant and pay for them!
Your applicant must wait 24 hours after being registered in order for the TAPS System to be updated. After the 24 hours, applicants may come to Range USA (no appointment necessary) to be fingerprinted. Also, please note - if your applicants are required to pay for the prints themselves - they can only pay with a money order or cashier's check made payable to "Cogent Systems"!

Saturday 11:00am – 5:00pm
